“We’re working very hard to solve the problem and we’re really sorry for the inconvenience. Those users in the US and UK who have enabled Gmail offline through Gmail Labs should be able to access their inbox, although they won’t be able to send or receive emails.”

Google is down. For more than 30 mins now, I’ve been trying to login to my GMail Account. I also tried my companies email service hosted at Google Apps, it’s also down.

Hmm. I wonder what’s going on?

Update: 5:15 EST service for gmail are back online.

After refreshing the google apps page for my companies email i got this:

Both service were back online at around 5:20 EST.

DISNEY TO ACQUIRE MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT

No one ever saw this coming. Entertainment giant Walt Disney Company just announced that they are acquiring Marvel and it’s 5,000 characters. Looks like our superheroes are going to Disneyland, hope they like the company of Mickey, Donald, Goofy oh and the 7 dwarfs.

Goodbye Reading Rainbow.

Too bad we won’t be seeing you anymore, you’ll be missed.

“Reading Rainbow” aired its last episode on PBS last Friday, August 28, 2009. The show hosted by Star Trek’s Levar Burton(Geordi La Forge) has been one of the favorite weekdays shows ends its 26 year run.

According to NPR:
Grant says the funding crunch is partially to blame, but the decision to end Reading Rainbow can also be traced to a shift in the philosophy of educational television programming. The change started with the Department of Education under the Bush administration, he explains, which wanted to see a much heavier focus on the basic tools of reading — like phonics and spelling.

Grant says that [the Public Broadcasting Service], [the Corporation for Public Broadcasting] and the Department of Education put significant funding toward programming that would teach kids how to read — but that’s not what Reading Rainbow was trying to do.

“Reading Rainbow taught kids why to read,” Grant says. “You know, the love of reading — [the show] encouraged kids to pick up a book and to read.”

Imagine That, young viewers won’t find Reading Rainbow on their television sets. “

Researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that leftover watermelons from a typical U.S. harvest could be converted to up to 9.4 million liters (2.5 million gallons) annually of clean ethanol fuel, which could be used to power cars, trucks, and even airplanes.

Imagine that.
